Weekend Fun Guide ( November 9-11, 2012)

Tis the season for all things Christmas including Santa Claus Parades, craft shows and tree lightings. This weekend seems to mark the beginning of Christmas season with the first of many Santa Claus Parades across Ontario. There are lots of fun things to do this weekend so be sure to get out and have some family fun! Across Canada

Neighbourhood Toy Store DayExperience the ‘wow’ factor of shopping at your local ‘neighbourhood’ toy store on Saturday November 10 when NETS retailers will celebrate Neighbourhood Toy Store Day with free activities, giveaways, demos, discounts and loads of family fun!

Random Act of Kindness Day – Together let’s celebrate Kindness! Random acts of kindness are a wonderful way to touch the lives of others and make our world a better place. This concept should not be foreign to us but I love the fact that there is a day devoted to it. Talk to your kids about things they can do to as Ramdom Acts of Kindness wether it be holding the door open for someone, playing with a child on the playground that is alone or telling someone they like their shirt. What’s Happening this Weekend…

Alliston Annual Sugar Plum Fair Craft Show & Sale @ Nottawasaga Inn – The show features 108 vendors from across Ontario selling a variety of items including chocolate, jam, fudge, sauces, quilts, candles, pottery, stained glass, wreaths, folk art, woodwork, sock monkeys, body care products, pewter, Christmas decorations and more! All the items are handcrafted by the artisans themselves.

Barrie Grey Cup 100 Train Tour @ Barrie GO Station (Sunday 12-4) – Read and learn about CFL history on the “Then and Now” mural inside the Kubota On Tour special events vehicle which also offers fans a Photo Booth opportunity called “You’re at the Game”. Tour the Grey Cup, Museum and Team cars, Reebok will be there to give fans a chance to win 2013 CFL Season tickets and Telus will have their virtual Punt, Pass, and Kick game.

Bayfield Christmas in Bayfield – Festivities kick off at 7 p.m. on Friday with the traditional Lighting of the Lights event at Clan Gregor Square. As part of the celebration, there will be treats, a choir on hand, and an early visit by Santa Claus care of the fire department. On Saturday Santa will make an appearance at the annual parade, starting at 11 a.m. Another special event on tap is free horse-drawn carriage rides.

Grand Bend Christmas Comes Early in Grand Bend – Businesses in the Grand Bend area will offer special and unique gift items to satisfy even the hardest-to-buy for person on your list. Merchants will be decorated for the holidays and will feature great specials. Enjoy a festive horse and carriage ride while you are there.
