Weekend Fun Guide (April 5-7 2013)

If the rain holds off this weekend it will be a great time to get out for a family bike ride, go for a walk to the park or enjoy one of the many fun events listed in our Weekend Fun Guide.  This weekend’s activities include Dinosaurs, Maple Syrup Festivals, Swan Parades, Fishing Shows, Gem and Mineral Shows and SO much more. Family Sunday – Spend an afternoon with friends and family exploring the world of art and creativity. Enjoy the exhibitions, make one-of-a-kind artwork, take part in drama workshops and games, and listen to stories read by Kitchener Public Library staff. New activities each month.

Temple’s Sugar Bush (Weekends until April 21st) – A wide variety of breakfast and brunch selections are available during the maple season.  Come visit us, have a meal, browse through the gift shop and take a walk on our sugar bush trail.

Midland

Sweetwater Festival (April6-7th) @ Wye Marsh – Activities are happening all day at the Wye Marsh during the Sweetwater Festival! Come out and see how maple syrup is made, roast some bannock on the fire or enjoy our delicious pancake breakfast. Thank you can tell the difference between real and fake maple syrup? We will put you to the test. This is one sweet event.

Gem & Mineral Show @ Paris Fairgrounds – Come check out all the Gems, Minerals, Fossils, Beads and supplies from throughout Canada, the United States and other countries, also the many demonstrators and exhibitors. As this is our 41st Anniversary show, a silent auction will be held, kids of all ages can ‘Mine for Gem’s and use tools to discover ‘I Dig Fossil Fish’.

Killbear Provincial Park’s 7th Annual Maple Syrup Festival  @ Killbear Provincial Park (April 6th) – Wagon rides through Killbear, guided tours of the sugar bush and sugar shack and Hot pancakes with pure maple syrup, bacon, tea, coffee or juice ($)

Stouffville

Sugarbush Maple Syrup Festival (March 2 – April 7) @ Bruce’s Mill – It’s a sure sign of spring. Come out and tap into nature! Demonstrations, wagon rides, activities, entertainment, fun crafts and of course pancakes and Maple Syrup.

Stratford

Springfest – This fun-filled event is packed with activities, games, competitive events, food, vendors and prizes.  A wonderful opportunity for the whole family to enjoy a day out. Events include hot air balloon rides (weather permitting), paint ball tournament, mom to mom sale, baking & floral sale, silent auction, clay & craft workshop, face painting, cookie decorating, bouncy castle, obstacle course, games, cotton candy, popcorn and candy table.  Entry is free.

Swan Parade Weekend – Celebrate Spring with Stratford’s annual release of our swans from their winter quarters. Saturday events include the downtown Swan Quest and horse drawn carriage rides. Sunday is alive along Lakeside Drive, with entertainment, vendors, buskers, face painting and of course the swan parade at 2 pm SHARP!

Sunderland

Maple Syrup Festival (April 6-7th) – People travel great distances each year to see what riches the little town of Sunderland has to offer. They come to join in the festival fun and to be part of a small town community filled with love, drive and spirit. Everyone enjoys the exciting variety of events taking place during the festival weekend.
