JUMPSTART DAY 2013 – Together we can help all kids play!
Saturday, May 25th is Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart Day. Come be a part of something amazing – helping kids from financially disadvantaged families in your local community get involved in sport and recreation. On Jumpstart Day, many Canadian Tire stores in Canada will have a day filled with fun activities and draws to help raise money for their local community. Some examples of events taking place this year include: Go Clean waterless car washes, chairty BBQ’s, table top games and much more! Come out to your local Canadian Tire store on Saturday, May 25 and help kids in your local community get in the game.
The weather is going to be perfect this weekend to take the family to the drive-in! Check out a drive-in near you this weekend!
Sit back and relax with a family movie at Cineplex Theatres. Saturdays at 11:00am you can catch a Family Favourite movie for only $2.50

Apple Blossom Festival – 6th Annual Apple Blossom Festival will have lots for everyone including the Ayton Lioness Club presents Farm Show
Includes anything to do with Farming!, Arts & Crafts Show, Go Green Show, Health & Wellness Show, Food Booths, reptile show and lots of additional fun for the kiddies.
Waterfront Festival – 9th Annual spring line-up will present live bands from a variety of genres. For your added enjoyment, free outdoor entertainment will be brought to the table: street buskers, a midway with rides, face painting, street vendors, fresh food, treats and contests.
MEC Bikefest @ Memorial Square – We love bikes, and we’re throwing a party in their honour. Come join the fun and connect with your local cycling community. You can try out gear, test ride a new bike, browse exhibitors’ booths, score deals at the MEC Bikeswap, or learn skills at a bike clinic. Bring your bike, your family, and your riding buddies, and embrace the awesomeness of wheels.
Honey & Garden Festival – With over 170 vendors attending, and free admission, its the biggest and best yet! There will be a Classic Car and Truck Show, Fun zone for the kids, live entertainment and bring your appetite for the many food vendors!
Doors Open – A celebration of community and heritage designed to create access awareness and excitement about our heritage. Attendees are provided with an opportunity to explore hidden historical treasures. We are excited to announce that the Doors Open Ontario Program will once again be coming to the Brockville – Thousand Islands area. Since the theme this year is “Cultural Expressions” many sites are featuring exhibits or live performances by local artists.
Biodiversity Weekend @ Royal Botanical Gardens – Come celebrate Biodiversity Day with us at RBG with a full weekend of exciting activities! Events will include a visitor passport, discovery stations, guided walks, making native seed balls and displays by local biodiversity-oriented organizations. On Saturday we will hold a Bioblitz for Families, and Sunday will feature a full-day nature art station and live birds-of-prey! All ages are welcome, and the activities will be fun for adults and kids alike. All activities are outdoors, so come dressed for the weather.
2013 Retrofest – Car lovers of all ages will be in their glory! Lots of fun to be had for all with Hot-Air Balloon rides and Zip-line in the Tecumseh Park, vendors for you to shop, eat and drink. There will be Clowns and face-painter for the kids. We also have the great Puppet Tamer for the enjoyment of the young at heart (three, 30 min. shows starting around noon). We are hoping to have a soapbox derby, Elvis(s) signing, a life size mechanical elephant to ride and some specialty cars for viewing (James Bond Car)
Apple Blosson Tyme Festival – A fun and friendly community festival in the village of Colborne that happens on the last weekend in May each year. The festival welcomes everyone to experience the village and surrounding area in springtime, when there are wonderful apple orchards with beautiful and fragrant blossoms to enjoy. In the village, there is a collection of local vendors and food to sample along with vintage cars and tractors on display, a soap box derby race, a midway, baking contests, a competitive and fun spelling bee, and lots of other contests and activities.
KatieBear Fun Day – Join us on Saturday May 25th at the Eganville Arena for the 2nd Annual KatieBear FunDay. Activites include: KatieBear Idol, KatieBear Craft Show – Over 40 Vendors, RC vehicles, Balloon Artist, Display by OPP and Bonnechere Valley Fire Dept., Games and prizes for kids and adults, Shave you Head for KatieBears, Frisco’s – Great food cooked onsite :), Candy Booth, Silent Auction, Dunk Tank, and so much more!
Elora Lions Spring Fireworks – The Elora Lions are holding their Spring Fireworks Fundraiser, Saturday May 25th at the Grand River Raceway on County Road 21 in Elora. Local live entertainment for young children will be available. Admission is a minimum donation of $2 per person with proceeds of this year’s event going to Community and Lions projects. Gates open at 7pm. Fireworks begin after sunset.
Chalk the Walk @ Gananoque Town Park – Events are scheduled from 9am to 4pm, and include live music, a Crayola air castle, a Boys & Girls Club BBQ,Dreams in Motion, face painting, and other entertainment. We will once again be joined by award-winning children’s literature illustrator Wallace Edwards, and will feature amazing 3D chalk art by Guy Wales, the sidewalk magic of local artist David Day, and our New Kid on the Block – Chalkmaster Dave.
Garden Railway at the Museum @ Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology – The Central Ontario Garden Railway Association COGRA will be displaying a garden railway set on the Museum grounds with guest appearances by Thomas, Annie and Clarabel along with passenger and freight trains. The Association will provide information to anyone interested in building a miniature railway in their own garden

Lindsay Rodeo and All About Horse Show – The 2013 Stampede Days are back and are providing an educational and fun weekend event for the whole family. Enjoy the professional Rodeo Show, including Bareback Bronc Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Bull Riding, Team Roping, Calf Roping, plus much more ! Also enjoy the All About Horse Show, vendor booths, on site camping, barn dance, beer gardens, educational clinics, and much more
Milverton Horse Show – Classes in Western Performance, Western Gaming, English Performance, as well as Pony divisions. It’s a family friendly atmosphere and a great place to get introduced to showing or come and bring our seasoned horse to show us what you got.
Fireworks over the Falls – Canada’s longest-running fireworks series is underway with fireworks every Friday, Sunday, and holiday until September 1, preceded by the popular Coca Cola Concert Series on the Victoria Park Stage. The best views are in Queen Victoria Park overlooking Niagara Falls.
Doors Open Orillia – This spring, Orillia opens its doors to the community in celebration of its rich historical connection to the arts. Tour our galleries, museums and theatrical spaces, interwoven with outdoor festivities happening in our historical downtown. This year, Doors open Orillia is partnering with the Downtown Management Board and Peter Street Arts District with events that include a sidewalk sale, live music, art markets, dance, vendors, food and family games.
Gloucester Fair – A great Midway, super Monster Truck Shows, Canada’s premium Southern BBQ Competition, real BBQ for everyone to taste, Horse Shows, Kids Shows, Birds of Prey and Fair Food Concessions. Ride a Monster Truck, a Ferris Wheel or thrill at the Demo Derby.
Artfest on the Esplanade @ Esplanade Park – Annual outdoor art show and sale. Over 80 artists show and sell their work. Performing artists at the Gazebo, free children and teen art activity tents, Hands on Art by PRAC. Event is presented by the City in partnership with the PineRidge Arts Council.
Huron Fringe Birding Festival – 15th annual festival takes its name from the migration corridor along the Bruce Peninsula. This Huron Fringe along the Lake Huron coastline offers birders, naturalists and photographers unique opportunities to discover nature in the early spring. At MacGregor Point Provincial Park, near Port Elgin.
Barks by the Bay – Barks by the Bay is an annual canine festival & trade show that takes place the last Saturday in May in Centennial Park, Trenton. Demonstrations all day, including: High Flying Canines, Hot Diggity Dogs and the Ultimate Air Dogs Canada! Also on site is an extensive roster of breeders, groomers, rescue groups, veterinarians, and pet stores. Many unique breeds, canine accessories, training aids, and contests. Every dog has its day at Barks by the Bay!

Bugs and Blooms @ Humber Arboretum – Knowledgeable guides will lead walking tours throughout the gardens and woodlot pointing out the many bugs and blooms visible at this time of the year. Doors Open Toronto – The 14th annual Doors Open Toronto – presented by Great Gulf – offers residents and visitors an opportunity to take a peek behind the doors of nearly 150 architecturally, historically, culturally and socially significant buildings across the city.
Cruzin’ On the Square – Cruzin’ on the Square is back for the second year! Come see classic cars, and listen to live entertainment by Another Blind Date on May 24th from 1-10pm in the Waterloo Public Square.
