Here are some great events happening across Ontario this weekend:
Bala Cranberry Festival – The Bala Cranberry Festival features a unique collection of products, gifts and crafts. Each vendor designs, collects and/or makes the items offered for sale. There will be lots of entertainment from stage shows, children’s midway, petting zoo, waterski show and so much more!
Barrie Film Festival – This ten-day festival is back this fall, featuring a selection of over 25 of the finest films from Canada and around the world. Also returning this year is our popular Director’s Brunch, Short Film Competition showcase, guest Q&As and receptions.
Agriculture in the City @ Burlington Mall – This is a free, family oriented, urban festival that explores how agriculture is all around us, everyday. Highlights include: Mooonica the Mechanical Cow – kids can milk Mooonica and learn about life on a dairy farm, Cooking demonstrations with delicious samples for the audience, Celebrity Chef and award-winning Niagara author Lynn Ogryzlo, So You Think You Can Farm? – everyone can play this fun, educational game and Balloon animal art
International Flavours (Saturday only) – A Taste of Downtown Georgetown features the restaurants and food venues in Downtown…and you are invited! Sample Indian, Irish, Italian, Thai, Chinese, Gourmet, Confectioneries and more! You can sample 4 food venues with your purchase of a passport.
Fall into Nature – Conservation Halton’s Fall into Nature festival celebrates the spectacular landscapes and colours of the Niagara Escarpment. Festival events run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.on October 13th and 14th at all six of Conservation Halton’s main parks: Crawford Lake, Hilton Falls, Kelso, Mountsberg, Mount Nemo and Rattlesnake Point Conservation Areas.
Doors Open Huron County – Huron County’s rich and unique military history, as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, includes four training bases within its borders – Goderich, Port Albert, Clinton and Centralia. The base at Goderich was for elementary air training, while the one at Centralia was advanced. The base at Port Albert was for navigation and Clinton’s was for radar. There will be themed events and activities including a military tattoo, airplane exhibit, guest speakers, re-enactment and more!
Health Fest at Neapean Sportsplex – A show and sale featuring the products and services of local businesses with a special focus on health & wellness, local food and green lifestyle. Admission is by donation. Funds collected benefit three worthy charities
Sexapalooza – Okay so it’s not really family oriented but hey Mom and Dad might need a fun night out! Featuring vendors, entertainment, seminars and so much more
Taste of the Valley – A celebration of local foods and products. The goal of the event is to promote “made in Renfrew County products.” An amazing assortment of pork, beef, lamb, chicken, produce, maple syrup, honey, ice cream, as well as many local artists, wood crafters and musical entertainment.
Oktoberfest at Germania Hall – Food, dancing and entertainment! The fun will include Swiss Alp Horns, Schuhplattler (Bavarian Folk Dancers), Sing-alongs, Contests, games and prizes all day long, Woodcutting Contest, Maßkrugstemmen (Beer Stein Hoisting Contest) and a yodelling contest!
Hastings County Beer Festival – Sample Ontario craft beers and taste local food and cheeses. A selection of ciders and wines from Prince Edward County and area are also available. Enjoy live music, beer education, and much more!
Hudson’s 1st Birthday @ The Toronto Zoo – Join us at 12 noon as we begin the celebration of Hudson the polar bear cub’s 1st birthday! *Party festivities will include a special keeper talk, birthday treats, a cub size icicle birthday cake for Hudson and the chance to sign a polar bear-sized birthday card. Running Health and Fitness Show – Whether you are a seasoned runner or just starting out, you will want to attend this! The major athletic brands will be present as are a multitude of other exhibitors showing and selling everything from socks to global navigation devices to the latest niche products and everything in-between. The show has more manufacturers, more international races, more charities, more running publications, more medical companies and the best selection of retailers you will ever see under one roof. There is plenty to engage beginner and the serious distance runner alike.
The Toronto Ski, Snowboard & Travel Show @ The Better Living Centre at Exhibition Place – Once a year this magical winter one-stop shopping extravaganza happens under one roof! The show is a montage of manufacturers, retailers, resorts, entertainment and associations whose mission is to help you fully enjoy your time on the hills and mountains.
